Welcome to Aptos, a charming unincorporated town in southern Santa Cruz County nestled between Capitola and Watsonville. Aptos is best known for its bluff-backed beaches and long surf break. It’s also home to Cabrillo College, a well-regarded feeder school to UC Santa Cruz. You can live within walking distance of the beaches or in the hills with sweeping views of Monterey Bay. Stroll the long stretch of beach, fish off the pier, and wonder at the massive concrete freighter ship called the SS Palo Alto, which was built at the end of World War I and is slowly eroding.

Aptos Village is a quaint shopping, dining, and housing enclave. It’s where you’ll find New Leaf Community Market and award-winning chef David Kinch’s relatively new restaurant Mentone. Kinch is probably the best-known chef in Silicon Valley; his Manresa restaurant in Los Gatos earned three Michelin stars. Aptos Village also is home to the Annual Santa Cruz American Music Festival and the Fourth of July World’s Shortest Parade. More development is planned for the village, so stay tuned.
