Scotts Valley

Live Among Redwoods, Commute to Silicon Valley – Find the Perfect Scotts Valley Homes for Sale

There’s high demand for Scotts Valley homes for sale, and it’s easy to see why. The peaceful suburbs attract tech workers and families drawn to the Santa Cruz mountains’ worlds-away vibe – but who don’t want to live too far from the bustle of San Jose and Palo Alto. The small bedroom community is about 25 miles west of San Jose and 37 miles from Palo Alto. To give you an idea of how many folks commute east, Apple and Google provide shuttles for employees from the Scotts Valley Metro station to Silicon Valley. It’s also a Tesla type of town. If you need an electric vehicle charging station, you won’t have to look far.

Scotts Valley is just 7 miles from Santa Cruz beaches. Close enough for a spur-of-the-moment surf sesh but far enough to escape the coastal summer fog. Other attractions are A+ public schools, spacious lots, and gated communities in the tonier neighborhoods. If you’re considering investing in Scotts Valley real estate, here’s what you need to know about why locals love living here…

5 Things We Love About Living in Scotts Valley

1. Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park

Paragraph: Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park is famous for its 40-acre grove of old-growth redwood trees that survived the turn-of-the-century logging frenzy. Redwoods in this sprawling preserve also survived the 2020 CZU Lightning Complex fire, which left scars on the trees, from which we can see new growth sprouting. One of our favorite trails in the park runs through Fall Creek, a river canyon lined with ferns. Everytime you visit the park, you can see and do something new. Hike, bike, camp, check out the Old Lime Kiln Ruins, ride the touristy Roaring Camp Railroad, and much more. The closest access points from Scotts Valley are along Graham Hill Road.

2. Lodato Park

Paragraph: Scotts Valley is surrounded by magnificent coastal redwoods, so you don’t have to look hard for ways to get up close and personal. The Lodato Park trail is a super convenient, although slightly hidden, gem near the center of town. The access is located behind a business park off Green Hills Road. The pretty 1.5-mile loop meanders through redwoods, ferns, and – watch out – poison oak.

3. Skypark

Paragraph: If your kids don’t drag you to Scotts Valley’s Skypark, your dog will! This community gathering place has playgrounds, a skate park, dog parks, bocce courts, soccer fields, BBQs, and more. Skypark hosts the community’s festivals and concerts.

4. Scotts Valley Art & Wine Festival

Paragraph: The summer Scotts Valley Art & Wine Festival brings everyone together at Skypark for sips from Santa Cruz Mountains wineries and local microbrews. Plus, there’s a classic car show.

5. Scotts Valley Farmers Market

Start your Saturday morning with a trip to the Scotts Valley Farmers Market for organic produce, local seafood, pasture-raised meats and eggs. Enjoy fresh apple pressing in late summer, fresh-cut spring flowers, and unique finds all year long.
